Homemade Caramel Popcorn Balls

These delicious caramel popcorn balls are ooey gooey, sweet and salty. A fun and easy dessert to make for a party. Enjoy during a family movie night. They also make for a great bake sale treat or party favor. This is a fun way to get the family in the kitchen and make something together.
Ingredients
- 3 bags microwave popcorn
- 1 cup butter
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
Directions
- Step 1 Line a flat surface with parchment paper.
- Step 2 Pop the popcorn.
- Step 3 Spread popcorn on parchment paper making sure to remove all the kernels.
- Step 4 In a medium size pot, melt 1 cup of butter (2 sticks).
- Step 5 Once butter is melted, add brown sugar, granulated sugar, condensed milk, and corn syrup over medium heat.
- Step 6 Mix well.
- Step 7 Bring to a boil. Using a candy thermometer, stir continuously until the temperature reaches 240 degrees.
- Step 8 Remove from heat.
- Step 9 Stir in vanilla.
- Step 10 Pour caramel over popcorn.
- Step 11 Divide popcorn into 8 segments.
- Step 12 Let popcorn cool for 2 minutes.
- Step 13 Spray washed hands with non-cook spray an create balls of popcorn. Round them in your palms and press gently together forming a ball shape.(be cautious, the caramel is very hot)
- Step 14 If you wish drizzle with melted chocolate.
- Step 15 Store in an airtight container for 5 to 7 days.
