Thick and rich, this hot chocolate recipe is decadent. The longer you cook it the thicker it gets - almost a pudding consistency!

Ingredients
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 granulated sugar plus 2 tablespoons
  • 8 oz 70% dark chocolate - chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
  • Step 1 Chop dark chocolate and set aside.
  • Step 2 Add 5 tablespoons cornstarch to 1/2 milk and make into a slurry. Set aside.
  • Step 3 Heat 3 1/2 cups of milk on medium.
  • Step 4 Add dark chocolate, cocoa, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  • Step 5 Cook on medium heat for 10minutes.
  • Step 6 Slowly add milk and cornstarch mixture and whisk for 2 to 3 minutes until completely dissolved.
  • Step 7 Turn down to low. The longer it cooks the thicker it gets.
  • Step 8 Pour into mug and add toppings.
