Where You're Always Welcome

Thankful Tree

Thankful Tree

Family LeafThis is a tradition my family and I started a few years ago.  It has reminded us that there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. Each day in November, we write something we are thankful for.  Hopefully more than once.  Then we hang it on a branch.  I put it on my kitchen island for everyone to see and every year the tree fills up with blessings written by family and friends.  On Thanksgiving Day we usually enjoy dessert and read what everyone shared out loud.  It’s a great way to see how much we are grateful for when we so often take things for granted. I encourage you to create this Thankful Tree this year with your loved ones.

  • Cut a few branches that have stems coming off them.
  • Arrange branches in vase.
  • Place supplies near vase – pens, markers, tags, decorative leaves.
  • Place in a high traffic area so everyone can participate.
  • Write instructions:

    • Family & Friends
    • Take a leaf or little tag.
    • Write something you are grateful for.
    • Hang on tree branch.
    • We will share on Thanksgiving Day.
    • Please do as many as you like – there’s much to be thankful for!
